Crawl Space Repair, Radon Remediation, & Home Renovations in Harvest, AL

In a growing community like Harvest, where homes often sit on larger lots and crawl space foundations are common, moisture control beneath your home is critical to maintaining long-term comfort and structural integrity. With North Alabama’s humid climate and seasonal rainfall, crawl spaces in Harvest can quickly become damp, musty, and vulnerable to mold growth, wood rot, and air quality issues.

Crawl Space Encapsulation & Repair in Harvest, AL

At Heartstrong Services, we specialize in crawl space encapsulation and repair solutions that are designed specifically for homes in areas like Harvest. Our proven systems seal your crawl space from outside air and ground moisture—creating a clean, dry, and controlled environment that protects your home from the ground up.

Because of the stack effect, up to 50% of the air inside your home originates from your crawl space. If that space is filled with moisture, mold spores, or contaminants, those pollutants can circulate throughout your home—impacting your indoor air quality, comfort, and even your health.

Our IICRC-certified technicians provide a full range of crawl space services, including:

  • Crawl space encapsulation with durable vapor barrier systems
  • Structural repairs and floor stabilization
  • Interior drainage systems and sump pump installation
  • Dehumidification systems for year-round moisture control
  • Insulation upgrades to improve energy efficiency

Homes in Harvest often experience issues like uneven floors, high humidity levels, or musty odors—all of which can be traced back to crawl space conditions. Our team identifies the root cause of these problems and implements long-term solutions, not temporary fixes.

We also offer advanced mold remediation services, including soda blasting and antimicrobial treatments, to eliminate mold and fungal growth from wooden structures. In addition, we can inspect and replace HVAC ductwork to ensure your system performs efficiently in a properly conditioned crawl space.

For homeowners in Harvest, Heartstrong delivers dependable solutions that create a healthier, safer, and more energy-efficient home.

Radon Remediation in Harvest, AL: Protecting Your Family from Hidden Risks

Radon Remediation Services

Radon gas is an invisible hazard that can affect homes throughout Harvest, regardless of location or property size. This naturally occurring radioactive gas forms in the soil and can seep into your home through crawl spaces, foundation cracks, and other openings—often without any noticeable signs.

Because many homes in Harvest are built over crawl spaces, they can provide a direct pathway for radon gas to enter and accumulate inside your home. Without proper testing, radon exposure can go undetected for years, posing serious health risks to your family.

At Heartstrong, we provide professional radon testing and mitigation services designed to detect and eliminate this threat. Our trained specialists use advanced equipment to measure radon levels and install proven systems that safely reduce concentrations in your home.

Health risks associated with radon exposure include:

  • Lung Cancer: According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
  • Respiratory Issues: Long-term exposure can worsen breathing conditions, especially for sensitive individuals.
  • Higher Risk for Children: Children are more vulnerable due to developing lungs and higher breathing rates.

Because radon cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted, testing is the only way to know if your home is at risk. Our team provides accurate results, effective solutions, and peace of mind for homeowners throughout Harvest.

After our inspection confirmed the insulation had been damaged by ongoing moisture and uncontrolled air exchange, we tackled the crawlspace as a complete system instead of just swapping material. We started with full insulation removal to eliminate the wet, sagging fiberglass and any trapped contaminants. Next, we installed a partial-perimeter drainage pipe to intercept water at the foundation and direct it to a new 1/3 HP sump pump, then routed the discharge line safely away from the home so water couldn’t cycle back into the crawlspace. To stop outside humidity from constantly feeding the problem, we blocked the foundation vents and sealed the ground with a durable 9 mil vapor barrier. From there, we added a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85-pint dehumidifier to maintain consistent, dry conditions year-round. Finally, we finished the enclosure with a custom-built PVC crawlspace door for a tighter, longer-lasting seal—creating a clean, dry crawlspace where new insulation and the home above can actually perform the way they should.

To solve the support issues under the home, we installed PowerPost floor supports to provide strong, adjustable reinforcement where the framing needed additional lift and stability. We then installed a steel beam to distribute the load more evenly across the crawlspace and reduce stress on weaker areas. Together, the new supports and beam created a solid, long-term support system that stabilizes the floor structure and helps prevent future sagging or movement.

To resolve moisture and structural concerns, we initiated a solution. We performed soda blasting to clean the framing system and address fungal growth. To manage humidity and prevent water intrusion, we installed a drainage pipe to collect water, directing it to a sump basin where a sump pump was installed to remove water via a discharge line. The crawlspace then underwent encapsulation with a vapor barrier to seal out moisture. We also completed a crawlspace door build to ensure a seal and installed a dehumidifier to maintain humidity levels. Lastly, HVAC register run replacement addressed ducts and improved air distribution, ensuring an environment beneath the home.

To resolve the moisture issues, our team started with comprehensive insulation removal to clear the affected area. To manage water intrusion effectively, we then installed a drain pipe system leading to a sump basin, where a sump pump was installed. A discharge line was routed to safely carry collected water away from the foundation. For moisture control and to protect the crawlspace from future humidity, we performed a full encapsulation with a durable vapor barrier. Finally, a dehumidifier was installed to maintain optimal air quality and low moisture levels, ensuring a dry and healthy environment for the home.

September 06, 2024 | Harvest, AL

To fully resolve the issues found during inspection, we began by treating the fungal growth with a hydrogen peroxide solution to sanitize the affected areas. Next, we installed a drainage pipe system, along with a sump pump basin and sump pump, to remove standing water and prevent future buildup. A discharge line was added to carry the water safely away from the home’s foundation. To protect the space from moisture long-term, we installed a 38 mil encapsulation system, creating a sealed and durable vapor barrier. We also added two register vents to introduce conditioned air into the crawlspace, helping regulate humidity and wood moisture levels. To complete the project, we custom-built and installed a new crawlspace door for a secure, weather-resistant entry point.

January 18, 2025 | Harvest, AL

Our team utilized soda blasting to remove heavy fungal growth from the floor framing system, restoring it to a like-new condition. To prevent future moisture issues, a perimeter drain pipe was installed, directing water to a sump basin equipped with a pump that discharges water to the exterior of the home. An insulated encapsulation system was then installed to protect the newly restored framing system from further moisture damage and improve energy efficiency. Additionally, a custom-built insulated door was designed and installed to provide a seamless and efficient entry point while maintaining the integrity of the encapsulation system, and the two duct lines near the door were rerouted using flexible ducting for easier access.
