Crawl Space Repair, Radon Remediation, & Home Renovations in Guntersville, AL

Living in a scenic lakeside community like Guntersville offers incredible views and a relaxed lifestyle—but it also brings unique challenges for homeowners, especially when it comes to moisture control beneath your home. With the proximity to Lake Guntersville and consistently high humidity levels, crawl spaces in this area are especially prone to moisture intrusion, mold growth, and structural deterioration.

Crawl Space Encapsulation & Repair in Guntersville, AL

At Heartstrong Services, we specialize in crawl space encapsulation and repair solutions designed specifically for environments like Guntersville. Our systems are engineered to seal out moisture, control humidity, and protect your home from the damaging effects of excess water and damp air.

Because of the stack effect, up to 50% of the air you breathe inside your home comes from your crawl space. If that space is damp or contaminated, it can lead to musty odors, poor indoor air quality, and increased strain on your HVAC system. Our encapsulation process eliminates these issues by creating a clean, dry, and controlled environment beneath your home.

Our IICRC-certified technicians provide a full range of crawl space services, including:

  • Crawl space encapsulation with high-performance vapor barriers
  • Structural repairs and floor stabilization
  • Interior drainage systems and sump pump installation
  • Dehumidification systems to maintain optimal humidity levels
  • Insulation upgrades for improved energy efficiency

In moisture-heavy environments like Guntersville, mold and fungal growth can quickly become a serious issue. That’s why we also offer advanced remediation solutions such as soda blasting and antimicrobial treatments to restore wood surfaces and prevent future contamination.

Additionally, our team can evaluate and replace ductwork within your crawl space to ensure your HVAC system operates efficiently in a properly conditioned environment—helping you stay comfortable year-round.

For homeowners in Guntersville, Heartstrong delivers dependable solutions that protect your home, improve air quality, and preserve your property’s value.

Radon Remediation in Guntersville, AL: Safeguarding Your Home & Health

Radon Remediation Services

Radon gas is a hidden danger that can affect homes throughout Guntersville, regardless of their proximity to the lake or elevation. This naturally occurring radioactive gas forms in the soil and can enter your home through crawl spaces, foundation cracks, and other openings—often without any visible or noticeable signs.

Homes in Guntersville that feature crawl space construction can be particularly vulnerable, as radon gas can easily accumulate beneath the home and move upward into living areas. Without proper testing, this risk can go undetected for years.

At Heartstrong, we provide professional radon testing and mitigation services designed to identify and eliminate this threat. Our experienced technicians use advanced equipment to measure radon levels and install proven systems that safely reduce concentrations inside your home.

Health risks associated with radon exposure include:

  • Lung Cancer: According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
  • Respiratory Problems: Long-term exposure can worsen breathing conditions, especially for children and older adults.
  • Increased Vulnerability for Children: Developing lungs and higher breathing rates make children more susceptible to radon-related health risks.

Because radon cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted, testing is essential. Our team provides accurate assessments and effective solutions to give Guntersville homeowners confidence in the safety of their indoor environment.

To solve the standing water and hydrostatic pressure issues, we installed a full interior perimeter drainage pipe system to intercept water along the foundation wall and within the soil profile before it could spread across the crawlspace. That system was pitched to a newly installed sump pump basin, where a 1/3 HP sump pump collects and removes the water through a dedicated discharge line, carrying it safely away from the home. To prevent lingering moisture and humidity from returning, we blocked the foundation vents and installed a 15 mil vapor barrier to separate the crawlspace from ground moisture and outside air. We then added a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85-pint dehumidifier to maintain dry, stable conditions year-round, and finished with a custom-built PVC crawlspace door to improve access while sealing the entry point and helping keep the crawlspace protected.

May 28, 2025 | Guntersville, AL

To solve the moisture and floor-shift issues in this 100-year-old home, we started with a Pro Cleaner hydrogen peroxide treatment to clean and treat the affected wood surfaces. Next, we installed a partial interior perimeter drainage pipe to intercept water where it was entering, and directed it to a new sump pump basin with a 1/3 HP sump pump and a dedicated discharge line to move that water safely away from the foundation. To reduce crawlspace humidity long-term, we blocked the foundation vents and installed a 15 mil vapor barrier to separate the home from ground moisture, then added a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85-pint dehumidifier to keep the air dry and stable. We also improved the seal and access point with a custom PVC crawlspace door. Finally, to correct the structural movement contributing to uneven floors, we installed a steel beam and added PowerPost floor supports to reinforce and stabilize the framing—helping stop future sagging and shifting while supporting a more level floor system.

May 16, 2025 | Guntersville, AL

To stop the water intrusion at the cold joint and keep the crawlspace dry long-term, we installed a targeted water-management and moisture-control system. We began with a partial perimeter drainage pipe installation along the affected area to intercept seepage and redirect it to a new sump pump basin. From there, we installed a dependable 1/3 HP sump pump and ran a dedicated discharge line to carry water safely away from the foundation so it couldn’t cycle back toward the home. Once the bulk water was controlled, we sealed and protected the crawlspace with our Crawlspace Doctor Exclusive Encapsulation System, which blocks ground moisture and outside air from feeding humidity issues. To keep conditions stable year-round, we finished by installing a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85 Pint Dehumidifier, maintaining healthy humidity levels and helping prevent mold, odors, and future moisture-related deterioration.

January 14, 2025 | Guntersville, AL

Our team executed a solution for the homeowner's crawlspace issues. We began with soda blasting to clean the affected surfaces and address any existing fungal growth. To combat the moisture and excessive humidity, the entire crawlspace underwent encapsulation with a durable vapor barrier, creating a sealed environment. A custom crawlspace door build further secured this barrier, and a dehumidifier was installed to maintain optimal humidity levels, effectively counteracting the impact of the open porch. Crucially, to address the compromised structural integrity, we reinforced the affected areas by installing double floor joists, restoring the stability and safety of the home's foundation.

October 15, 2024 | Guntersville, AL

To resolve the water intrusion and fungal growth issues in the crawlspace, we installed a drainage pipe system to redirect groundwater and relieve hydrostatic pressure around the foundation. To ensure reliable water removal, we added two sump pump systems, each with its own basin and discharge line, allowing for efficient drainage from multiple areas of the crawlspace. All foundation vents were blocked to prevent humid outside air from entering and contributing to moisture buildup. To maintain a dry and stable environment, we installed a high-efficiency dehumidifier designed to regulate humidity levels and prevent future fungal growth. This comprehensive system created a dry, protected crawlspace and helped safeguard the home’s structural integrity.

October 14, 2024 | Guntersville, AL

To resolve the moisture issues causing the cupping hardwood floors, we began with a hydrogen peroxide treatment to eliminate any fungal growth and sanitize the crawlspace. We installed drainage matting to allow water to flow beneath the system and improve ground drainage, followed by a sump pump, basin, and discharge line to actively remove standing water and prevent future accumulation. A reinforced vapor barrier was then laid across the crawlspace floor to seal out ground moisture, and all vent openings were blocked to prevent humid outside air from entering. To control long-term humidity levels, we installed a high-efficiency dehumidifier. Additionally, we replaced the outdated HVAC components, including the supply and return ductwork as well as all register runs, to improve airflow efficiency and prevent further moisture buildup. This comprehensive solution helped protect the hardwood floors and restore a dry, stable environment beneath the home.
